Properties Sickle-Sofia Property
Highlights:
- 9,077 ha copper-gold project in the Toodoggone District.
- Located 46 km north of Kemess South Mine.
- Coincident Cu/Au soil and IP chargeability anomaly > 5.5 km2.
- Drill hole BCG07-01 at the Sofia Zone intersected 47.0 metres averaging 0.13% Cu and 0.08 g/t Au; porphyry Cu-Au mineralization and alteration occur through entire core length of 318.3 m.
The Sickle-Sofia property is located in north-central British Columbia, in the Toodoggone District, which is host to a number of significant epithermal gold-silver and porphyry copper-gold deposits in various stages of exploration and development.
The Targets
A coincident copper-gold soil and induced polarization (IP) anomaly has been defined over more than five square kilometres.
Alteration identified at the Sofia Zone is suggestive of porphyry copper-gold mineralization, and at the Alexandra Zone of high-sulphidation gold mineralization.
Nearby Deposits
The Toodoggone District contains one of British Columbia's largest past producing gold-silver mines (Lawyers), as well as smaller scale past producers (Shasta and Baker). Several gold deposits have documented resources and numerous other gold-silver-copper prospects are in various stages of exploration.
Northgate Minerals Corp.'s Kemess South Mine, located 46 kilometres south of the Sickle-Sofia property, is one of British Columbia's larger porphyry copper-gold deposits and was one of Canada's largest mines by throughput (50,000 tonnes per day). Prior to its closure in 2011 the Kemess South Mine produced over 2.7 million ounces of gold and 700 million pounds of copper since 2000.
